RECOGNIZE SWINE FLU SYMPTOMS! DEFEND YOURSELF

· Persons infected with the H1N1 virus may be able to pass it on 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 7 days after infection
High Risk Groups
o Children below 5 years
o Senior persons above 65 years
o HIV infected persons
o Diabetic patients
o Pregnant Women
o Lung & Heart patients
o Obese persons
Warning signs for children
o Troubled or abnormal breathing
o Bluish skin color
o Lessened intake of water/fluids
o Extended sleep or lack of interaction
o Irritable
o Fever with rash
o Flu-like symptoms recede, but return with fever and worsened cough
Warning signs for adults
o Difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath
o Pain/pressure in chest/abdomen
o Sudden dizziness
o Confusion
o Severe or persistent vomiting
No vaccine is available for Swine Flu. Seasonal flu vaccines or past immunizations DO NOT provide protection against the H1N1 virus
· Please visit a qualified physician if you suspect Swine Flu symptoms. Avoid self-treatment
· If your doctor suspects Swine Flu, please ask for a written reference (prescription) to conduct tests
